Defence Belgium: ECA group to participate to the Belgian Navy trials in Industry & Technology day
ECA Group will take part in the trials organized by the Belgium navy on Industry & Technology Days in June 2017. The Navy is aiming at selecting the company that will provide them new systems of mine hunting in order to replace their existing materials
In June, the Belgian Navy, in collaboration with the Dutch Navy, will organize a second test session for companies in the context of the forthcoming replacement of mine countermeasures (MCM - Mine Counter Measures) imaterial n Belgium and the Netherlands by 2023.
Technological and industrial days will be held at the Zeebrugge naval base on 15 and 16 June. The series of tests will take place with different types of submarine and surface drones presented by companies from various continents. These two days are open to mine specialists parts of NATO, EU and associated organizations. The different companies registered at the event can present their systems during a briefing and a static and dynamic exhibition.
In September 2016, the Belgian Navy had already organized a test session in which four companies, including ECA, participated. As a result of this testing session, the Belgian Defence sent an evaluation report to the participating companies.
The Belgian and Dutch navies will change their fleet together. The investment budget amounts to € 1.29 billion for frigates and € 932 million for mine action capacity. Mine-fighting capacity should be replaced from 2023 and frigates from 2025.
