Navy Recognition : ECA Group in charge of the design of a 6000m depth AUV

Ifremer (French Research Institute for Exploitation of the Sea) charged ECA Group with the design of an ultra-deep Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) reaching 6000 meters water depth.

The AUV will be able to accomplish wide coverage acoustic mapping as well as optical inspection by hovering close to the sea floor. The AUV will enable to easily produce accurately georeferenced, wide area, high resolution and multi parameter representations of deep water marine environment. This AUV is expected to accomplish its first dives in 2019, after three years of development.
