ECA Group delivered two Ultra Cockpit XL 5-screen simulators with Distracted Driving System (DDS) Distracted Driving system to the Public Safety Institute (PSI) in Lexington, Kentucky.
The ECA Group has designed the Ultra Cockpit to make traffic safety training both engaging and affordable especially with the optional rear view panel views offering more realistic backing and blind spot checking capability.
The Ultra Cockpit features realistic cab ergonomics with heavy duty steel construction chassis, durable force-feedback steering and pedal controls, actual automotive seat and seatbelt, both automatic and manual transmissions, wide aspect LCD monitors, and powerful PC. This makes the robust Ultra realistic, reliable, adaptable, and well suited for active use.
Offered in both 3-screen (front views) and 5-screen (3 front, 2 rear views) configurations, this simulator features advanced traffic safety training and simulation software which includes basic operational tasks, intermediate procedural lessons for navigating busy roadways, and advanced lessons that address risk awareness, crash avoidance, driving in adverse conditions and more.
The Ultra simulators were also fitted with an optional Distracted Driving System (DDS) which includes actual Android smart phones for both the instructor and student (adding realism – but do not require cell phone service plan to operate), as well as an integrated DDS texting application that enables the instructor to send text messages to the student at the tap of a button or automatically set for random intervals during driving scenarios. This allows the DDS system to create real life distractions while the student is driving in an array of risky driving scenarios which accurately illustrates the dangers of texting while driving.
The Ultra simulator coupled with the DDS system is much more than just driving simulator, but rather a comprehensive training system. As part of their traffic safety training initiative, PSI will be using both of their advanced simulators to train students at high schools throughout the state of Kentucky on the dangers of texting while driving.
