ECA Group Naval Simulator MISTRAL 4000 certified by Merchant Navy in Chile

In December 2016, ECA Group has successfully completed the commissioning of additional simulation modules to the already existing ECA Group MISTRAL 4000 simulator in use in the Maritime Training Institute “INCAMP” in Valparaiso, Chile.

The installation for the MISTRAL 4000 upgrade includes the update of all existing software, including new Sailor interfaces for the GMDSS Simulator and the provision of:

• Two real type approved ECDIS devices with radar overlay, which have been integrated in the simulation system, giving the capability to perform ECDIS training courses,
• A new external view theatre to create a more immersive and realistic environment in order to perform the most advanced ship maneuvering exercise.

With the new upgrade to the latest software version and hardware technology, Incamp will have the capability to carry out a more realistic immersive training.

The Instituto de Capacitacion Maritima y Portuaria (INCAMP) is an organization dedicated to the training of professional seafarers in the Maritime and Port area and also offers training services in other areas according to the needs of companies.

Incamp is an ECA GROUP customer since the 2013, when they have purchased the first simulation system a MISTRAL 4000  Shiphandling simulator composed by an Instructor-server, double monitors with GMDSS Simulator.  Periodically the system shall be updated to comply with STCW regulation and to maintain the high quality level of its trainees.

In January 2017, the ECA Group MISTRAL 4000  bridge simulation system in Valparaiso has received the certificate of approval from DIRECTEMAR (the General Directorate for Merchant Navy in Chile).

DIRECTEMAR,  has certified ECA Group MISTRAL 4000 as a simulator that allows training simultaneously 8 students using a complete training path from the basic knowledge of the navigation up to the advanced professional training, communications (GMDSS Simulator) radar (basic and harp) ECDIS, technical navigation and maneuvers (shipSim) operational level.

The award of this certificate demonstrates that the system is compliant with the guidelines and recommendations on the use of Maritime Simulator, taking full account of the STCW Code adopted by the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers as amended, including the Manila amendments 2010.

MISTRAL 4000 is the first ECA Group maritime simulator certified at this level in Chile

The good and strong relationship with the customer will allow further evolution and updates of this simulation system according to the needs of the Institute for the future training program.
