ECA Group, and NICOMATIC combines their know-how on the occasion of the International Paris Air Show in Le Bourget and announces the development of a Smart Connector for Aerospace Electrical Testing.

Nicomatic and ECA Group announced their teamup to develop a smart connector, SmartCo, a component part of a user-friendly electrical testing solution meant to detect both hard and soft faults in civil and military aircraft.
The SmartCo technological module is to be integrated with ECA’s T-Cell Technology, which performs an extensive battery of electrical tests on board aircraft.
SmartCo works with a diagnostics method based on the principle used by radar. It combines reflectometry with communication using the new Orthogonal Multi-tone Time Domain Reflectometry (OMTDR) method. This OMTDR technology is able to perform quickly and accurately preventive maintenance and detect faults within a wired network, .
The combination of these innovations enables to create more user-friendly and compact tools when working on complex electrical networks. Users will be able to reduce the down-time of their aircraft and perform preventive action by anticipating better certain issues.
