A new configuration for the Simulation System for Nautical Institute “M. Ciliberto” in Crotone

The institute “M. Ciliberto” has been one of the most important public maritime schools of southern Italy since 1967.

In the middle of the 2000s the Institute has purchased its first basic simulation system with very limited functionalities. Thanks to a European founded project for training, the old basic simulation system has been enlarged and upgraded. Now the students of “Ciliberto” Nautical School can count on a PC based ship handling simulator with three trainee stations and a complete set of equipment and navigational instrumentation (conning, ship control system, ECS, DGPS, and RADAR ARPA) to perform from basic to advanced training courses on Navigation Operations, following STCW regulation.

Each one of the three trainee station is now equipped with the new desktop maneuvering console, completely designed and produced by ECA Group, called Mansim Touch. This modern console, integrated in the desktop based simulation system, grants to trainees the feeling of maneuvering the virtual ship models using real maneuvering station, designed on the base of the real consoles installed onboard of merchant vessels.

ECA Group's job is not finished. It will continue working with Ciliberto Nautical Institute in the future, in order to maintain the high quality level of its trainees and give to the Institute the possibility to perform advanced training for professional seafarers in the next future.
