In February 2021, France initiated the renewal of its deterrent force by launching the design of its future 3rd generation ballistic missile submarines (SSBN), intended to replace the Le Triomphant class submarines currently in service with the French Navy's Strategic Oceanic Force as of 2035.
This month, TechnicAtome and ECA Group signed a major contract for the design, development, qualification and production of the electrical systems. Those systems will ensure the primary functions of the nuclear propulsion boiler room while complying with the high levels of nuclear safety requirements.
TechnicAtome selected ECA Group for its experience in energy conversion with innovative technologies in power electronics, as well as its ability to offer modular solutions allowing mutualisation on different equipment. All developments will be conducted in France, contributing to the nation’s sovereign capabilities.
