ECA Group alongside another French company are part of a winning consortium OCEAN2020, for a 35 million euros project related to the first European Defence Found’s initiative to boost Europe's defence capabilities for coastal surveillance.

Ocean 2020 will only deploy aeromaritime and submarine drones in an architecture that also includes surface ships and the use of data links to communicate between all these means. Two experiments are already planned in the Mediterranean (in 2019) and in the Baltic Sea (2020).
ECA Group will participate in the first phase planned for 2019 with the Italian and French navies, and will supply its Inspector MK2 USV surface drone and one of its three underwater drones (A9, A18, A27).
Fifteen defence ministries co-operate in this program, including Italy, Greece, Spain, Portugal and Lithuania, and to a lesser extent Sweden, France, the United Kingdom, Estonia and the Netherlands.
