Subsea World news: Riser connection monitoring system contract for ECA Group in Angola
Published on Subsea World News, October 2017.
On an offshore FPSO (floating production storage and offloading unit), the flexible risers are connected to the vessel by means of a bend stiffener fixation system (BSF) which requires an on-going monitoring.
The contract to provide an underwater network includes eleven DTR 65 HRC swiveling TV cameras, and two pressurized explosion proof VSR1X0Z-Z2 control units.
This solution was developed initially for FPSO based in Brazil a few years ago. The solution for offshore oil and gas industry is completely remotely controlled and does not require any diver intervention. Installation and removal of cameras are operated by a ROV. The network, installed on the FPSO, enables real time, night and day surveillance of the clamping process of risers.
