UAV Experts News: ECA Group Optimizes Aerial Drone for Maritime Applications

ECA Group recently announced to have extended the use of the IT180 mini-UAV capabilities to include maritime applications. To do so, the comapny is partnering with DCNS,for the studies needed to integrate the drone on board ships.

The IT180 UAV  is a compact VTOL drone. An initial implementation of the “navalization” concept was demonstrated at DCNS’ Naval Innovation Day in Ollioules, where IT180 aerial drone took part in an interception scenario in the Toulon harbour.

Previously, the ECA Group has developed other concepts of its  IT180 UAV  applied for naval defence applications. These applications include mine detection, radio relaying and magnetic risk management for which the STERNA has already been selected by an Asian navy and rewarded during the Euronaval show in October of 2016.
