Subsea and offshore robotics

Developing effective unmanned and remotely operated systems of robots is at the heart of ECA Group's R&D efforts. For more than 60 years ECA Group aims at providing optimized robotic systems to successfully perform missions in Oil & Gas or Hydrography sectors such as seabed surveys, asset / critical infrastructure inspection and cleaning.

To do so, ECA Group offers a comprehensive operational system integrating a wide range of drones systems including:

• Unmanned Surface Vehicles (USVs)
• Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs)
• Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs) and associated tooling, such as LARS (Launch and Recovery Systems) or  Electric manipulator arms for ROVs

These range of solutions are particularly suited for both shallow and deep water pipeline inspection up to 3 000m water depth and for the control of offshore laying operations of cable, risers, pipeline and flexible in Oil & Gas Industry. Attend ECA Group's speaking slot on June 20^th

ECA Group will participate to a speaking slot on June 20th 2019 from 1.30pm to 2.45 pm in the agora to speak about Artificial intelligence for ocean-going autonomous vehicles.

USV and AUV have been used for several decades and new systems are being developed. The potential applications are numerous, for both military and commercial applications: maritime surveillance, maritime interdiction, anti-submarine and mine warfare, environmental assessment, offshore survey for oil& gas or search& rescue…While a USV can access the electromagnetic spectrum for positioning and communications, this is not the case for AUVs which need to have a much higher level of autonomy to conduct their mission. Endurance, positioning accuracy, communication bandwidth,  embedded intelligence are largely open issues for current systems. This round table will discuss the architecture, performances and related technical solutions for maritime autonomous systems, including the teaming of multiple assets, and how best to leverage the current booming of artificial intelligence technologies, including both hardware and software.
